Liyan's father remains unknown due to circumstances beyond her mother's control. Life has since then been tough for the two, but her mother resorted to do her best to provide for her baby by doing petty jobs around the village. The little she earned was sadly not enough to sustain Liyan in school. Watoto learnt of their plight and has graciously offered a helping hand through their Neighborhood program.

Liyan is now enrolled in a great school and her medical and educational needs are now fully covered. She enjoys Mathematics classes the most and you will find her playing dodgeball with her friends in her free time. Liyan's favorite color is red. While at home, Liyan helps her parents with keeping the house organized and tidy. Rice and beans are her best dish.

Watoto is also imparting Christ like values in Liyan through mentorship. She loves the Lord and enjoys singing and dancing for him.
